About PFAS
PFAS (Personal Functional Assessment Services) employs nurses, occupational therapists and physiotherapists to work as Functional Assessors and Disability Analysts. You will meet people face to face, by video conference call, or phone and assess people who have applied for Personal Independence Payments (PIP) or Work Capability Assessment (WCA) and use your fair judgement to assess how their disability or condition impacts their working and daily life. We provide this work on behalf of the Government’s Department of Work and Pensions (DWP). Our Functional Assessor jobs present a great career change opportunity for nurses. Read on to find out more about PFAS nursing jobs - where you’ll be helping people who need support to live their lives. Find out about how PFAS will support your career too, and what PFAS nurses working as functional assessors get paid.
PFAS services
Nurses, occupational therapists and physiotherapists (and other registered clinicians) provide services on behalf of the UK Government’s Department of Work and Pensions (DWP). Together, our clinicians supported 35,000 people each year.
We gather these assessments and create a report for the DWP whose case managers then make an opinion on each claimant’s eligibility. This falls within the DWP’s Health Assessment and Advisory Services (HAAS).
We want to be recognised as the best provider of PIP assessments, with the highest clinical quality, excellent customer service and a great and dedicated team, where everyone feels respected and fairly treated.

PFAS nursing jobs and pay
PFAS jobs for registered clinicians (you might be a nurse, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, or paramedic) require you to speak with members of the public who have claimed for Personal Independence Payments (known as PIPs) or Work Capability Assessments (known as WCAs) because through disability, illness or other conditions they are unable to work or lead a life that functions without impact.
PFAS offers Functional Assessor jobs for nurses in locations across the UK.
PFAS Functional Assessor (PIP) and Disability Analyst (WCA) jobs
Functional Assessors and Disability Analysts at PFAS support over 36,000 claimants each year. You will be working autonomously, holding consultations and composing fair, balanced, respectful and non-biased reports. Your role is to interview claimants in a sympathetic way so that you can fully understand the challenges they face.
“The assessor was very friendly, very clear, helpful and respectful.”
PFAS Claimant

“I’ve worked within the PIP contract since 2013. Moving from the NHS felt like a big step but it is one of the best decisions I have made. I’ve worked in many roles during my time on PIP and worked with lots of amazing people. PFAS became my work family in 2024 and I feel privileged to be part of a such a fantastic team who’s values align with mine!”
