Words from our Snowdrop House Home Manager

Here’s what our Home Manager, Clare Crow, has to say about her decision to join Care UK:

“In my career so far I have undertaken a wide variety of roles all over the country including care case manager for the East of England. I have also worked for the prison service, a wide range of hospitals and care homes, and people with challenging behaviour.

"I started work with Care UK in September 2014 and I believe to be an effective team member you need to have a positive attitude, be caring, respectful and approachable, and have a good sense of humour!

"My favourite part of the working day is motivating the staff to ensure the residents are their main focus of the day, creating memorable moments, laughter and joy. My biggest professional challenge so far has been saving a person's life and then continue to watch them grow and flourish.

"In my spare time I enjoy travelling, spa days and have a huge interest in guide dogs and caring for animals.”

Costel Alin Marcu

Deputy Manager

“Care UK is a great organisation to work for. I’ve previously worked as Team Leader and Nurse at Snowdrop House, and I consider becoming a Registered Nurse as the highlight of my career so far. As Deputy Manager, I believe good communication is an important skill to have – you need to be able to communicate information concisely and effectively with residents, team members and families. But the most important part of my job is maintaining the health and wellbeing of the residents who live in Snowdrop House and our colleagues. The mornings are my favourite part of my working day. I like to get a head start so I can start the day with a positive, can-do attitude. I’m proud to make a difference in the lives of residents and to help guide my colleagues.”

Victoria Rapley

Unit Manager

“I was keen to join Care UK when a new care home was built near where I lived. I’d worked in the care industry since I was 18, so I wanted to work for another care provider. At Snowdrop House, the most important part of my role is communicating with others and ensuring the needs and best interests of residents are met. I’ve worked hard to progress in my career, having started as a Carer and being promoted to Team Leader, then Senior Team Leader and now Unit Manager on the residential suite at Snowdrop House. I want to continue learning and growing, and I’m currently taking Care UK’s Future Deputy Manager course. My favourite part of the day is arriving to work on the suite and assisting residents with their daily tasks. I always get a thank you or a smile. ”

Louise Halls

Business Administrator

“I used to work in administration in the Police Service: I love working with people from all walks of life. I want to make a difference to people’s lives and feel like I’ve overcome challenges to help them. The new challenges here are getting to know my colleagues as well as all the residents and understanding how I can help them and their families. Outside of work I like to keep active by playing squash, spending time with my two children and keeping my garden in shape.”

Rene Foreman

Head Chef

“I really enjoy my job, Care UK are a great company to work for. They provide good training and I always enjoy the odd challenge that arises! The residents at Snowdrop House are great; it makes me proud to make a difference in their lives. Im proud to have worked my way up to where I am now. I have years of experience working in catering alongside qualifications in food safety and strong knowledge of dietary requirements. A good sense of humour always helps the job too! Each day I look forward to coming to work to see the smiling residents, and best of all I get to work with a great team. To unwind outside the home, I like to spend time with my family, listen to music, watch films and make cakes!”

Jade Rackham

Customer Relations Manager

“I have always worked in sales and customer service, so the care sector was completely new to me. However, I wanted to work in an environment where I felt I could make a difference to people and to use my skills and experience to help them. It’s been a challenge to learn the different policies and procedures that are necessary, but it’s been good. Having empathy, being a good listener and being determined to do all you can to support families at a stressful time, these are all important skills and attributes needed in this role. One of my favourite parts of the job is helping new residents to settle in and supporting relatives to feel like part of the Snowdrop House family. In my spare time I like going to the gym, walking my dog, socialising and going on holidays.”
