Words from our Martlet Manor Home Manager

Here’s what our Home Manager, Sarah Bennett, has to say about her decision to join Care UK:

“I’ve worked in care for nearly two decades. I started out as a Care Assistant, but have been in management roles for nearly ten years. I joined Care UK because I was keen to find a new challenge. I’d been hearing a lot about the company and I liked the look and feel of the home when I first looked around.

“In my role it’s important to listen and support your team, residents and family members. You need to be proactive and think outside the box. I enjoy helping the team to progress in their careers while ensuring that they’re delivering the best quality care. Above all, I believe that Martlet Manor is going great things and has huge potential thanks to our brilliant, hard-working team.”

Suzi Hawes

Customer Relationship Manager

“Although working in the care sector is new to me, I have a wealth of experience in customer service. I joined Care UK in 2021 after hearing about their great reputation and I felt that I had many transferrable skills from my time as cabin crew in British Airways. I have a City and Guilds qualification in Introduction to Care. As Customer Relations Manager you are the first point of contact with families at a very difficult and stressful time. You need empathy and a caring attitude as well as being able to help with the practical side of things. I enjoy building relationships and interacting with the people we provide care for. As Martlet Manor begins to open its doors there are so many exciting challenges we will face as a team.”

Meg Lester

Lifestyle Wellbeing Champion

“Being the Lifestyle Wellbeing Champion for Martlet Manor it is my role to facilitate activities and groups which allow individuals at the home to increase their mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional well-being. During my career I have acquired a range of qualifications which I can now combine in this unique role. I am proud to have certifications and training in mental health care, counselling skills, chair-based exercise, pain management, substance misuse, Mindfulness and meditation, alongside many other useful courses. This role requires empathy, compassion, patience and understanding. To be very open with positivity, forward-, and always putting the resident's well-being at the forefront. My favourite part of the working day is delivering the morning papers.”

Toby Reed

Maintenance

“By trade, I am a painter and decorator, landscaper and previously worked as an industrial and commercial cleaner. Before joining Care UK I worked in maintenance for another company. My favourite part about this role is working in different areas of the home and helping the people we provide care for with any odd jobs. I enjoy bonding with a new team and look forward to developing my career at Martlet Manor. Outside of work, I am a keen rugby player and I love being outside with my wife and kids. ”
