We are seeking a skilled Social Worker to join our Children's Team in Plymouth on a locum basis.

Main Purpose of the Role:

* To provide a high-quality social work service to children, young people, and their families/carers, ensuring their safety and promoting their welfare.

* To support children to remain within their families and communities wherever possible, and to implement positive change using evidence-based social work methods.

* To manage and minimise risks of abuse and neglect, exercising sound professional judgement within the relevant legal and policy frameworks.

What you will do:

* Undertake comprehensive assessments of children in need, children subject to child protection plans, and looked after children, identifying risks and needs to inform care planning and intervention.

* Act as the lead professional for children and families, coordinating multi-agency involvement and ensuring effective communication across all parties.

* Develop, implement, and review care plans for children, ensuring that all actions are child-focused, timely, and in line with statutory requirements and best practice guidance.

* Engage directly with children, young people, and their families/carers, building effective relationships to facilitate change and improve outcomes.

* Carry a caseload appropriate to level of experience and complexity, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records in line with departmental and legislative requirements.

* Undertake statutory work, including child protection enquiries, court work, and the preparation of reports for a range of forums, such as case conferences and court proceedings.

* Work collaboratively with colleagues, other professionals, and partner agencies to ensure a holistic approach to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

* Contribute to and participate in regular supervision, team meetings, and continuous professional development activities, maintaining registration with Social Work England.

* Ensure all practice is compliant with current legislation, local policies, and procedures, including the Children Act 1989 and Working Together to Safeguard Children.

* Where appropriate, provide consultation and advice to colleagues and other professionals regarding complex cases or areas of specialist knowledge.
