Ward Manager
Full Time, Permanent
York
Up to £53,000
We are currently recruiting for a Ward Manager on behalf of a respected healthcare provider.
As Ward Manager, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day management of the ward, ensuring that staffing levels are maintained, and that the team is equipped with the training and support they need to deliver the best possible patient care. You'll play a key role in shaping the culture of the ward and ensuring the team meets their professional development goals.
What you'll be doing:
- Managing the ward effectively, ensuring the right staffing levels, skill mix, and resource allocation.
- Leading the team to ensure training, appraisals, and mandatory requirements are met.
- Acting as a mentor and role model, creating a positive environment for both staff and patients.
- Monitoring patient care to ensure the highest standards are maintained.
- Ensuring care plans are tailored to each patient's individual needs.
- Promoting patient safety through incident reporting and quality audits.
- Contributing to recruitment and retention, helping to build a strong, committed team.
- Working with a multidisciplinary team to ensure effective care coordination.
- Managing HR processes, investigations, and complaints, ensuring they are handled efficiently and professionally.
- Overseeing medicines management and ensuring staff competency in this area.
- Providing support across the site as needed, including taking part in the on-call rota.
- Registered with NMC or HCPC (depending on service requirements).
- At least 2 years' supervisory experience in a clinical setting.
- Experience in team management, staff rostering, and leadership.
- A commitment to professional development and ongoing learning.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Experience in clinical audits and service improvement is a bonus.
- A solid understanding of legislation like the Mental Health Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.
