Job Description

  • Oversee the management of a 22-bed nursing home, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care in line with residents' individual needs and preferences.

  • Lead, manage, and support a team of staff, including training, supervision, and performance management to ensure they meet the home's standards and expectations.

  • Ensure compliance with CQC guidelines and all regulatory requirements, maintaining up-to-date care plans, risk assessments, and safeguarding protocols.

  • Manage financial performance, including overseeing budgets, resource allocation, and ensuring efficient use of resources to meet the needs of the residents.

  • Act as the point of contact for external professionals, including GPs, social workers, and regulatory bodies, to ensure excellent care provision and communication.

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with residents, families, and staff, ensuring a supportive and inclusive environment.

  • Lead on recruitment and staff retention, ensuring the home has a skilled, motivated, and well-trained workforce.

  • Contribute to and implement strategies for continuous quality improvement, ensuring that high standards of care are maintained and that any issues or concerns are addressed promptly.

  • Be prepared to take part in on-call duties and be available for evening, weekend, and night-time visits as required to meet the needs of the service.

Key Requirements:

  • Level 5 Leadership and Management qualification or equivalent (essential).

  • Experience in a nursing or care home management role, with a proven track record of managing teams and delivering high standards of care (essential).

  • In-depth knowledge of CQC regulations, health and safety, and quality assurance processes.

  • Strong leadership, management, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead by example and foster a positive and supportive team culture.

  • Experience in managing care for individuals with mental health conditions and/or learning disabilities (essential).

  • Desirable: Registered NMC RMN (Registered Mental Health Nurse), dementia care experience, and knowledge of managing behaviours of concern.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with residents, families, staff, and external professionals.

  • Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities effectively.

  • Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing needs, including being available for on-call support when needed.
