Locum Occupational Therapist to work in a Stroke Rehabilitation role in Brentwood UK, earning £30 to £35 per hour. This ongoing opportunity is full-time with a work schedule of 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. What you will do:

* Manage a caseload of patients with stroke, taking a key worker role as indicated

* Set and maintain a high standard of clinical practice, which is evidence based where possible, using standardised assessment and outcome measures, where appropriate

* Complete a robust occupational therapy assessment of the patients' needs

* Set person-centred goals with patients and carers and develop a treatment plan that supports these goals

* Monitor, evaluate and review occupational therapy interventions within a multidisciplinary framework and modify as necessary

* Use your skills in moving and handling people safely within community environments

* Act as an advocate on behalf of patients and carers to support meaningful participation in life roles within Mid Essex

* Collaborate with other members of the stroke rehabilitation team, reablement, and voluntary sector to provide intervention around discharge and for post-discharge rehabilitation

* Assist in and coordinate patient discharge planning, taking the lead role when acting as the keyworker

* Use knowledge of other multi-disciplinary roles and external agencies to ensure effective referral management and achieve the best client care

* Stay informed on occupational therapy, Royal College of Physicians and NICE clinical guidelines for stroke care

* Maintain a good understanding of neuro-anatomy and the clinical presentations of stroke and their impact on cognition and function

* Work with the ESD Coordinator and all disciplines in the team to develop flexible interdisciplinary and multi-agency work practices enhancing outcomes for clients

* Meet HCPC standards of Proficiency for occupational therapy

* Keep up to date with current knowledge and advances in occupational therapy practice in stroke rehabilitation, taking responsibility for your own CPD in line with HCPC registration

* Ensure client and service records are accurately recorded and maintained according to trust and local policies

* Comply with all policies, procedures, and the Health & Safety at Work Act

* Apply national guidelines and legislation relating to occupational therapy practice

* Undertake any other duties as allocated

Requirements of the Occupational Therapist:

* Degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy

* Recent UK experience working as an Occupational Therapist

* Recent NHS experience

* Registered with the HCPC
