This ongoing role allows you to play a vital part in supporting and developing foster placements for children and young people across the island. What you will do: Undertake thorough assessments of prospective foster carers, including the completion of Form F assessments, making recommendations for approvals. Provide consistent supervision and support to approved foster carers, ensuring quality care for the children and young people. Assist in matching children with appropriate foster carers and collaborate with social care and education colleagues to maintain placement stability. Participate actively in fostering panels, contributing to the approval or deregistration of foster carers. Engage with children in foster placements, advocating for their interests and needs. Maintain comprehensive case records and uphold all statutory responsibilities diligently. Attend various meetings, reviews, and forums, providing invaluable contributions to care planning.

Requirements:

You must be a Qualified Social Worker holding a BA/BSc in Social Work, DipSW or equivalent, with registration from Social Work England. Experience in fostering, working with looked-after children, or children's services is essential. A firm grasp of fostering regulations, safeguarding policies, and child development is crucial. Excellent assessment abilities, along with strong report-writing and communication skills, are required. A commitment to child-centred, trauma-informed, and inclusive practices is essential.
