Job Description

Servisource are recruiting for an Assistant Director of Nursing on behalf of a private nursing facility located in South Mayo.

As an Assistant Director of Nursing in an Irish nursing home, you'll support the Director of Nursing in managing and developing the nursing service, ensuring high-quality, safe care, and maintaining compliance with regulations, while also providing leadership and support to nursing staff. Key Responsibilities:
  • Leadership and Management:
    • Assist the Director of Nursing (DON) in the overall operational and strategic management of the nursing service. 
    • Provide professional leadership and support to nursing staff at all levels. 
    • Ensure the achievement of operational and strategic objectives. 
    • Participate in the recruitment, selection, and training of nursing staff. 
    • Develop and implement nursing policies and procedures. 
    • Promote a positive and professional environment for staff and residents. 
  • Patient Care:
    • Ensure the delivery of high-quality, safe, and person-centered nursing care to residents. 
    • Oversee the daily operations of the nursing department, ensuring compliance with healthcare standards and regulations. 
    • Participate in the development and implementation of resident care plans. 
    • Address resident needs and concerns promptly and effectively. 
  • Compliance and Quality:
    • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and policies (e.g., NMBI standards, HIQA standards). 
    • Participate in audits and quality improvement initiatives. 
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records. 
  • Staff Support:
    • Provide guidance and support to staff nurses/unit managers and allied staff. 
    • Promote a positive and supportive work environment. 
    • Assist in the development of the management skills of immediate subordinates. 
    • Be a visible and approachable presence for staff, residents, and families. 
  • Other Responsibilities:
    • Participate in service planning and change management. 
    • Contribute to the effective utilization of resources. 
    • Liaise with other healthcare professionals and stakeholders. 
    • Deputize for the DON as required.
