Job Description

Cygnet is seeking to recruit a full-time, experienced and motivated Assistant Psychologist to join Cygnet Sherwood House in Mansfield. This role will be working 40 hours per week from Monday to Friday.

The post is a permanent position.

Sherwood House

Cygnet Sherwood House in Mansfield is a 30-bed specialist high dependency inpatient and rehabilitation service for men.

Cygnet Sherwood House is a multi-disciplinary and psychologically informed service. The focus is on providing a high quality environment for promoting long-term recovery.

Job Role

The role of the Assistant Psychologist will be to support and enhance the psychological care of clients within Sherwood House by assisting the Qualified Psychologist in the delivery and evaluation of effective services that meet Cygnet's Healthcare objectives, national strategic and policy guidelines, commissioner requirements and user and carer needs and expectations. To thereby help understand, prevent and ameliorate psychological distress and disorder and improve mental health and wellbeing of clients. The role involves the administration, scoring and report writing of psychometric assessments, standardised risk assessments, clinical formulation and supervised individual and group interventions. Clinical supervision will be provided as an important part of personal and professional development, and additional training will be supported.

Candidate Profile

You will be a strong team player, confident, motivated and well organised. You will have a good understanding of the role of therapeutic boundaries, clinical risk and the importance of evidence-based interventions. Patience and commitment are essential, but above all you'll be someone with a genuine desire to help others. We are looking for someone with a good degree in Psychology, further postgraduate training in relevant area of applied psychology and mental health is desirable. Previous experience of working within mental health services and settings is essential, and previous experience of working as an Assistant Psychologist and delivering 1:1 therapeutic work and/or group therapy sessions is essential.

Please note successful candidates will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
