We have an exciting opportunity for a Mental Health Support Worker to join our Mental Health team at HMP Winchester , a category B/C Prison located in Winchester
HMP Winchester is a young male and male remand prison with a capacity for 700 inmates. The on-site healthcare unit provides primary medical services, mental health support, and substance abuse programs. .

This position is full time, you'll receive an annual salary up to £30,684 per annum FTE - depending on experience.

What you'll be doing
As a Mental Health Support Worker, your responsibilities will vary. You will
- Assist the mental health team in the delivery of immediate and, where appropriate, ongoing care for patients referred to the mental health team.
- You will be expected to support people to access care and treatment appropriately within the prison setting, working independently with lone working at times.
- You will contribute to the positive and aspirational workings of the integrated mental health care team, ensuring that each and every patient is treated with care, respect and dignity.
- The post holder will provide assistance with delivery of mental healthcare needs, within the Healthcare Department.

- Previous experience as a mental health support worker.
- Good interpersonal skills
- Good oral and written communication skills
