Children's Social Worker - Safeguarding Team

Location: Stockport

Pay Rate: £38 per hour

We are on the lookout for an engaging Children's Social Worker to join our Safeguarding Team in Stockport. This ongoing, full-time position offers an excellent work opportunity to dive into the vital role of supporting and intervening with children at risk of exploitation, including sexual and criminal exploitation, modern slavery, and trafficking. If you have a strong grounding in statutory children's social work, court processes, and an understanding of Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DOLS), this could be the perfect role for you!

What you will do:

* Collaborate with locality social workers on co-allocated cases to manage and support vulnerable children and young people.

* Apply your child exploitation expertise along with your in-depth knowledge of adolescent development and trafficking to make informed decisions.

* Actively participate in court processes to ensure compliance with legal frameworks and statutory requirements.

* Build trust-based relationships with young people, demonstrating creativity, patience, and tenacity to overcome mistrust.

* Offer flexible support during critical moments in a child's life, which may include working outside usual hours with agreement from your line manager.

* Contribute to council initiatives such as the Week of Action on exploitation and facilitate training sessions for staff development.

* Collaborate in multi-agency strategy meetings to safeguard children effectively alongside other professionals.

* Travel within and outside of Stockport to meet the needs of children in various settings, requiring a vehicle with business insurance for transporting young people.

* Maintain an office presence for a minimum of three days a week to provide visible support and respond to emerging needs.
