Job Title: Clinical Lead (RMN)

Location: High Wycombe

Type: Permanent

Shift Pattern: Full time, 37.5 hours per week

Salary: £60,000 per annum

Sanctuary Personnel is seeking an enthusiastic and highly skilled Director of Clinical Services/Matron/Team Lead/Clinical Lead to join our client's inpatient hospital team specialising in care for adults with eating disorders. The hospital, located near High Wycombe, offers a 14-bedded, mixed-gender specialist service, providing comprehensive care in a supportive environment.

Role Overview:

Reporting directly to the Hospital Director, the Clinical Lead is a key member of the Senior Management Team, responsible for overseeing clinical services operations, including nursing and therapy. You will ensure the highest standards of patient care, working closely with the Hospital Director to support the daily running of the hospital. This role closely aligns with the responsibilities of a Matron, Team Lead, or Clinical Lead within the NHS, and you will manage a dedicated nursing team supported by a full multidisciplinary team, including a Ward Manager and Deputy Ward Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership:

* Develop and implement hospital strategies, providing both operational and clinical leadership.

* Act as Deputy in the absence of the Hospital Director.

* Oversee the performance and governance of all clinical departments.

* Serve as a visible role model and leader, fostering a culture of learning, development, and professionalism.

* Manage the clinical services business plan, ensuring efficient use of staffing, budgets, materials, and equipment.

* Promote effective collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.

* Ensure all clinical staff adhere to professional standards and take corrective actions when necessary.

* Participate in on-call duties as part of the Senior Management team.

Staff Management:

* Efficiently manage ward resources, ensuring appropriate staffing levels and skills mix.

* Review staffing daily, addressing any over or understaffing issues.

* Ensure safe staffing levels are maintained across clinical services.

* Oversee clinical supervision, mandatory training, appraisals, and continuous professional development opportunities for nursing staff.

* Implement career pathways, talent mapping, and succession planning for clinical staff.

* Address development gaps and ensure training and performance issues are managed.

* Recognise and reward positive staff performance.

* Develop and maintain a highly skilled and motivated workforce.

* Implement robust recruitment and retention strategies to reduce turnover and improve staff engagement.

* Manage relationships with Higher Education Institutes to support learner placements.

Regulation and Compliance:

* Work with the Hospital Director to deliver high standards of clinical and therapeutic care, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and current legislation.

* Ensure compliance with quality standards, including CQC Regulations, Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.

* Oversee the timely completion and implementation of action plans related to regulatory and corporate requirements.

Clinical Governance:

* Provide leadership and coordination to ensure effective clinical governance.

* Implement clinical interventions that align with best practices and enhance service quality.

* Ensure prompt incident reporting and lead reviews to improve quality and practice.

* Contribute to the development of hospital policies, procedures, and initiatives.

* Provide cover and support to the wider team as needed.

* Liaise with the ward pharmacist and address issues identified through audits.

* Conduct clinical and HR investigations to a high standard, ensuring timely completion.

Essential Requirements:

* Professional NMC registration.

* Strong clinical experience in eating disorders and evidence of ongoing professional development.

* Comprehensive understanding of statutory regulations.

* Demonstrated leadership and decision-making skills.

* Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

* At least 3 years of post-qualification experience, with a minimum of 2 years at a supervisory or managerial level.

* Experience managing clinical budgets.

* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to adapt communication style to different audiences.

* Full, clean driving licence.
