We have an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Assistant to join our Pharmacy team at HMP Wakefield , a Category A male prison in Wakefield, West Yorkshire.
This is a rare opportunity to join our close knit Pharmacy team, where you will join a unique working environment, where no two days are the same! Within this varied role you will work in our onsite community pharmacy - dispensing medication, second checking, preparing prescriptions and being involved in our new initiative, the pharmacy shop service!

Hours

This is a full time role, working 37.5 hours per week, 08:00 - 16:00, Monday to Friday. There are no weekends or bank holidays!

Salary

This position is full time, you'll receive an annual salary of £24,669 - £28,690 per annum - depending on experience.

Candidates are required to have a Legal right to work in the UK and due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.

What you'll be doing

As our new Pharmacy Assistant, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:

  • Work within the onsite pharmacy, joining a team of 8
  • Support the Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Manager, as well as the wider healthcare team
  • Label and dispense medications, and prepare prescriptions
  • Second check controlled drugs
  • Contribute to services such as medicine reconciliation, managing stock medicines and transportation of medicines
  • Provide support to ensure a safe and secure medicines management service, following policies, procedures and standard operating procedures
  • Be part of our new pharmacy shop initiative - ordering stock (toiletries), preparing the items and dispatching to the wings, as well as deducting prisoner funds from their personal allowance

Our New Pharmacy Dispenser Will Have:
  • An NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Dispensing
  • Experience within a pharmacy environment - whether in the community, hospital or a prison / secure setting
