Children Social Worker - Family Support & Safeguarding Team - Lewisham, UK

Position Overview:

Key Responsibilities:

* Provide a statutory social work service to children, young people, and their families/carers, including assessment, intervention, case planning, and review.

* Maintain accurate case records and ensure transparency and accountability in all documentation.

* Advise service users of their rights to access records and the complaints procedure.

* Prepare case reports and correspondence for various stakeholders, including conferences, court, and other agencies.

* Ensure compliance with relevant policies, procedures, guidance, and legislation.

* Conduct duty work as required and develop strong relationships with relevant agencies and organisations.

* Actively engage in supervision sessions and professional development opportunities.

Essential Criteria:

* Qualified social worker with current HCPC registration.

* Experience in statutory social work within family support and safeguarding.

* Strong knowledge of relevant child protection legislation and procedures.

* Excellent communication, organisational, and analytical skills.

* Ability to manage cases independently, with an emphasis on professionalism and safeguarding.

* Commitment to promoting diversity, equality, and inclusivity in all work interactions.

Reports To: Team Manager

Main Purpose of the Job: To provide a high-quality statutory social work service to children, young people, and families/carers, ensuring effective assessments, interventions, case planning, and reviews in line with the team's objectives.

Additional Responsibilities:

* Manage social work tasks on assigned cases, including short-term assessments and reviews.

* Create and maintain comprehensive case reports for use by multi-agency teams.

* Prioritise diversity and equality in all community interactions.

* Participate in team duty systems and collaborate with external agencies.

* Ensure adherence to health and safety protocols, ensuring the safety of all team members and service users.

* Contribute to performance evaluations and participate actively in training sessions.
