We have an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Support Worker to join our Pharmacy team at HMP YOI Moorland, a Category C male adult and young offenders prison based near Hatfield, with operational capacity of around 1100.
This is a fantastic opportunity start or continue your career in Pharmacy and Healthcare - no previous experience is necessary, and we will support you with lots of training and development opportunities.

No two days are the same in this challenging, yet rewarding environment!

Hours
This is a full time role, working an average of 37.5 hours per week. You will work 4 days out of 7, with 3 x 9.5 hour days, and 1 x 9 hour, with alternate weekends.

Salary
This is a full time role, and the salary is £23,614 per annum

Candidates are required to have a Legal right to work in the UK and due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.

What you'll be doing

As our new Pharmacy Support Worker, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:

  • Support the onsite Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Manager, as well as the wider healthcare team
  • Work from the medication rooms on the wings
  • Second check medication before dispensing to patients on medication rounds
  • Contribute to services such as medicine reconciliation, managing stock medicines and transportation of medicines
  • Provide support to ensure a safe and secure medicines management service, following policies, procedures and standard operating procedures
  • Be a key member of a multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals - primary care, substance misuse and mental health

Our new Pharmacy Support Worker will have:
  • No experience is necessary - we are looking for someone with a keen interest in Pharmacy, and keen to pursue a career in Pharmacy and Healthcare within a prison
  • An NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Dispensing would be a bonus, but isn't essential
  • Ideally have medicines handling experience, although not essential
  • Have a proactive approach, with excellent communication skills
