Job Description

Are you a motivated Occupational Therapist looking for an opportunity to grow and develop? If so, join Brighton and Hove a CAMHS Tier 4 Eating Disorder service for young people aged 12 up to 18 years.

You will be instrumental in promoting health and independence by delivering high quality occupational therapy assessments and interventions, along with providing clinical leadership, supervision, and consultation to the wider multidisciplinary team.

You will be key in demonstrating highly specialist expertise and specialist occupational therapy skills in areas such as occupational engagement, environmental adaption, development and maintenance of skills needed for meaningful participation.

You will also have experience in managing a designated caseload using theoretical and practical experience, completing assessments, planning, implementing interventions, and evaluating outcomes aligned to care plans.

Your responsibilities as an Occupational Therapist will include:

  • Your responsibilities will include the provision of 1-1 interventions based on your assessment of patients' functional needs to enhance physical recovery and psychological wellbeing.
  • You will also be responsible for the provision of a meaningful activity timetable and programme of therapeutic groups and activities to enhance community engagement, social interaction and development of self-esteem.
  • You will contribute to the comprehensive MDT assessment of patients' difficulties and the development of individualised clinical formulations.
  • You will provide clinical supervision and line management duties for the occupational therapy assistants.
  • To be responsible for the development and implementation of appropriate policies, protocols and care pathways
  • Communicating effectively with a range of clinicians, managers, directors, associate directors, people who access services, carers/supporter/family members, stakeholders and agencies
To be a successful Occupational Therapist you will need:
  • Diploma in occupational therapy or BSc in Occupational Therapy
  • Professional registration with the Health Care Professionals Council.
  • Experience of applying occupational frames of reference and approaches
  • Experience of working as an occupational therapist in a mental health setting, or with adolescents
  • Experience or motivation to work with young people with neurodevelopmental or complex needs.
  • Knowledge and training in sensory integration and interventions is desirable but not essential.
  • Ability to supervise occupational therapy assistants.
  • Understands professional standards and limits of confidence, and will use supervision appropriately and effectively

Where you will be working:

Location: 14-18 New Church Road, Hove, East Sussex, BN3 4FH

You will work at Brighton & Hove Clinic, a CAMHS Tier 4 Eating Disorder service for young people aged 12 up to 18 years with a primary diagnosis of an eating disorder; or an eating difficulty with a co-morbid presentation for example mental health or psychological difficulties, such as depression, OCD or anxiety or self-harm.
