Job overview
An exciting opportunity has been created for a Nurse Non-Medical Prescriber working in South Kent Coast.
The post holder must hold a relevant prescribing qualification and some experience in prescribing is desirable but not essentially needed as KMPT offers a brilliant prescribing network that is robustly governed and supports staff working in this field of nursing.

Main duties of the job
.
The nurse will need to hold a qualification as a Non-Medical Prescriber and will be undertaking independent prescribing practice working alongside the medical team within MHT and MHT+.
The post holder will be expected to provide assessment and treatment, including the prescribing of medications. The role will focus on working in the outpatient clinics working alongside the Consultant psychiatrists, reviewing, initiating and adjusting medication.
The post holder will be an experienced Non-medical Prescriber with specialist knowledge and be able to provide advice to GPs and other relevant professionals and service users on mental health medications.
The post holder will contribute to governance and audit, ensuring that service delivery focuses on the quality agenda and that dignity, privacy, and respect is afforded at all times to service users.
The post holder must hold a full, valid, UK driving licence and have access to a car/vehicle to use for business purposes (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010).

Essential criteria

  • 1st Level Nurse RMN
  • BSc(Hons) Nurse Practitioner or equivalent
  • Non Medical Prescribing Course
Experience

Essential criteria
  • 5 years Band 6 or above
  • Medicine management
  • Experience of working either in Community, Primary Care or Acute
  • Experience of undertaking comprehensive assessment of clients with undifferentiated diagnosis
  • Experience of Research and Development and Audit
Desirable criteria
  • Supply and administration of medicines under Patient Group Directions, Supplementary and if agreed, Independent prescribing.
Knowledge, Skills & Ability

Essential criteria
  • Broad understanding of multi- professional roles within primary and community services
  • Excellent communications skills both written and verbal
  • Demonstrate leadership characteristics and work well within a team
  • Able to demonstrate sound clinical decision making under pressure
Desirable criteria
  • Assessment and management of acute mental illnesses or relapse, prescribing and providing treatment to minimize the impact of the illness.
  • Family, Carer's and Children's Interventions and Planning
