Job Description

Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist

The successful candidate will provide professional support and leadership to occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants, and activity workers across various mental health inpatient services in Birmingham:

The role involves supporting service-users along their recovery pathway using relationship-centred, best practice interventions to improve their quality of life while helping them achieve personal goals. Service-user outcomes are tracked using recognized assessment tools, ensuring progress towards living in the least restrictive setting.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Support: Manage and lead the occupational therapy team, ensuring professional support and guidance. Oversee a small clinical caseload of service users, performing assessments, interventions, and evaluations of treatment.

Therapeutic Program Delivery: Ensure the therapeutic program, including group and individual sessions, is consistently delivered and evaluated to meet the needs of the service-user group.

Assessment & Intervention: Use the MOHOST (Model of Human Occupation Screening Tool) as the core occupational therapy assessment tool to document evidence of progress and focus on occupation. Additional assessments are completed based on individual service-user needs.

Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Provide clinical leadership within the multidisciplinary team and represent a senior professional voice in integrated care teams.

Person-Centered Care: Work with service-users to deliver personalized care, balancing safety and therapeutic risk-taking while supporting community integration and promoting recovery principles to improve quality of life and maximize independence.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

HCPC Registration: Must be a registered occupational therapist.

Passion for Mental Health: A dynamic individual with a passion for working with individuals with severe and enduring mental health diagnoses.

Staff Development: Support and supervise staff, with a focus on continuous professional development and delivering innovative services.

Core Hours: Ability to work core hours, predominantly from 09:00-17:00, Monday to Friday.

Staff development, support, and health benefits are offered, creating a positive and welcoming work environment.
