The vacancy

Here at Rainbows Children's Hospice, we provide specialist palliative care and end-of-life support to over 750 Babies, Children, and Young People living with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions, as well as approximately 3,000 people, including families, siblings, and carers, across the East Midlands. Simply put, we're here to brighten short lives and support families, wherever they are.

As a Project Manager at Rainbows, you will play a vital role in ensuring the successful delivery of projects that align with our mission. With the hospice embarking on a digital transformation, many of these projects will involve technology, but your work will also encompass a variety of organizational initiatives designed to improve services and operations.

Location: Rainbows Hospice (Loughborough) - Hybrid working available, with occasional travel for meetings, conferences, and events.

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

About the role

In this key position, you will be responsible for planning, executing, and delivering projects on time, within scope, and on budget. You will lead cross-functional teams, manage resources effectively, and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Some of the key responsibilities include (but not limited to):

  • Develop comprehensive project plans, including defining objectives, tasks, timelines, and resource allocation.
  • Lead, coordinate, and inspire cross-functional project teams, ensuring open communication and effective collaboration.
  • Monitor and manage project progress, identifying and addressing risks, issues, or delays, and escalating when necessary.
  • Oversee project budgets, ensuring efficient use of resources and adherence to financial constraints.
  • Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders, including staff, volunteers, external partners, and service users, to ensure alignment and support.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, legal requirements, and industry best practices throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support the digital transformation agenda by delivering technology-related projects that improve operational efficiency and enhance service delivery.

About You

We are looking for an organized, proactive, and results-driven professional with the ability to balance multiple projects while maintaining high standards. You will be a collaborative team player, comfortable managing stakeholder relationships and adept at finding solutions to challenges.

Essential Requirements:
  • Proven experience in project management, with a track record of successfully delivering complex projects.
  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and tools, with proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Trello, or similar).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse audiences.
  • Experience in managing stakeholder expectations and fostering collaboration across cross-functional teams.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
Desirable Skills:
  • Experience delivering projects in the healthcare, charity, or non-profit sectors.
  • Familiarity with digital transformation and technology-driven projects.
  • Project management certification, such as PRINCE2, PMP, or Agile.
