We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Learning Disability Nurse to join our Mental Health Care team at HMP Wakefield, a category A Prison with 700 patients located in West Yorkshire.

Hours

The site currently offers a 24-hour service and shift patterns

Monday to Friday - 8am-4pm
Will need to be flexible and work on weekends if needed

Salary

This position is full time, you'll receive an annual salary up to £47,466 per annum FTE - depending on experience.

Candidates are required to have a Legal right to work in the UK and due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.

What you'll be doing

As a Senior Learning Disability Nurse your responsibilities will vary. You will

  • Have responsibility for a caseload and be accountable for all aspects of delivering a nursing
    service for adults with learning disabilities/ challenging behaviour, within the criminal justice setting.
  • Be working with adults whose behaviours have resulted in their offending and coming into
    contact with the criminal justice system
  • Work with the multi-disciplinary team to undertake person centred specialist behavioural assessments, planning and co-ordination of positive non aversive behavioural approaches to service users.

Qualifications & Experience required
  • Registered Nurse - Learning Disabilities / NMC
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development
  • Substantial experience working with adults with Learning disabilities with a range of clinical presentations
  • Evidence of working Learning disability health within a community or inpatient setting.
  • Evidence of use of a range of standardized and non-standardized behavioural assessment tools supporting clinical reasoning
