We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Learning Disability Nurse to join our Mental Health team at HMP Whatton, a category C Prison located in Nottinghamshire.
HMP Whatton is a male adult prison with a capacity of 855.

Hours:

This role is permanent based on 37.5 hours per week, shifts covering Monday - Sunday

• 5 days per week - 8.30am - 4.30pm
• 4 days per week - 7.30am - 5.30pm

Salary:

This position is full time, you'll receive an annual salary between £42094 - £47466 per annum FTE - depending on experience.

What you'll be doing

As a Senior Learning Disability Nurse, your responsibilities will vary. You will

• Respond as directed by the Mental Health Team
• Administer medication
• Duty role which will be reviews, meds, IDD assessments for example ADHD assessments
• Manager in the day to day operational functioning of the Mental Health team.
• Responsible for a caseload and be accountable for all aspects of delivering a nursing
  service for adults with learning disabilities/ challenging behaviour, within the criminal justice setting.
• Working with adults whose behaviours have resulted in their offending and coming into
  contact with the criminal justice system
• Working with the multi-disciplinary team to undertake person centred specialist behavioural assessments, planning and co-ordination of positive non aversive behavioural approaches to service users.

Qualifications required

• Registered Nurse - Learning Disabilities / Mental Health - NMC
• Evidence of Continued Professional Development
• Substantial experience working with adults with Learning disabilities with a range of clinical presentations
• Evidence of working Learning disability health within a community or inpatient setting

Although not essential ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
