Are you an experienced and skilled Substance Misuse Nurse ready to make a substantial impact in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire? We are offering an exciting opportunity for a professional to engage in a 3-month block booking, working 4 days a week (30 hours per week) with a rewarding pay rate of £33 per hour on an umbrella basis. Immediate start available for the right candidate with prior experience in drug and alcohol interventions.

What you will do

  • Conduct comprehensive physical and mental health assessments for service users to identify the necessary support and interventions required.
  • Engage with individuals undergoing alcohol detoxification, performing assessments in line with relevant policies to ensure safe and effective treatment.
  • Contribute to the titration process for opiate service users, ensuring communication with community pharmacists and maintaining optimal treatment levels.
  • Offer health promotion and blood-borne virus screening, along with providing vaccinations such as Hepatitis B where indicated.
  • Support and manage community-based alcohol and opiate detoxifications, whether within the service or at users' homes.
  • Perform phlebotomy and utilise blood results to assess health status and determine the need for specialist referrals.
  • Train colleagues and service users in the use of Naloxone as part of a comprehensive strategy to reduce harm and promote safe use.
  • Provide basic wound care, signposting users to additional services while ensuring clear treatment pathways are available.
  • Maintain excellent communication with all healthcare partners, ensuring seamless delivery of treatments and updates on patients' progress.
